features a multidisciplinary team of specialists who are dedicated to accurate cancer diagnosis and staging, innovative and appropriate treatment, collaborative relationships with each patient’s physicians, and attention to the care of our patients and their families. Our affiliation with the Penn State Cancer Institute provides us the opportunity to offer patients access to groundbreaking clinical research studies, advanced technology, and an expert team of academic medical center physicians to support our outstanding community-based doctors.
Our Team thrives on providing patients and their families clear communication regarding explanation of treatment options and medicines, what to expect during the treatment process, management of pain and treatment –related side effects, and how to access resources which can enhance quality of life during treatment and beyond.
Our Oncology Services team uses standards and recognized guidelines of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and other recognized organizations to develop practices which guide patient care. Our Team of nurses, radiation therapists, navigators, care managers, financial counselors, clinical research associates, tumor registrars, medical physicists, medical dosimetrists, and administrative staff is led by Dr. Marc A. Rovito, Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center Medical Director.

Dr. Marc Rovito
Medical Director, Medical Oncologist
Oncologist Dr. Rovito is Board Certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Temple University, and completed his residency in internal medicine and hematology and oncology fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is an Assistant Professor within the Dept of Medicine/Hematology-Oncology Division at Penn State Cancer Institute. As the Medical Director for Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center, Dr. Rovito leads the cancer care team in assuring our cancer program accreditations by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC), the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Practice Initiative (QOPI), and the American College of Radiology (Radiation Oncology.)
Dr. Ayodele Ayoola
Ayodele Ayoola, MD is Board Certified in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine. He earned his medical degree at St. Matthews University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD and a Fellowship in Hematology/ Oncology at Penn State Cancer Institute, where he is Assistant Professor, Dept. of Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH.)
Caitlin Trovato Long, PA-C
Caitlin Long, PA-C, completed her Master of Science Physician Assistant and Bachelor of Science Medical Studies degrees at DeSales University, Center Valley, PA. She completed post-graduate training at St. Luke’s University Health Network Acute Care Medicine Fellowship, and served as a physician assistant in the Critical Care and Emergency Departments at St. Luke’s prior to joining the Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center team in 2017.
Dr. Nick Onyemeke
Nick C. Onyemeke, MD, is Board Certified in internal medicine and Board-eligible in hematology and oncology. He completed his internal medicine residency at Atlantic Health/Overlook Hospital in NJ and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in 2016. Dr. Onyemeke joined PSH St. Joseph from Cancer Treatment Center of America – Philadelphia, where he served as an oncology hospitalist.
Dr. Navesh K. Sharma
Navesh K. Sharma, DO, Ph.D, FACRO, is a Board certified radiation oncologist, Section Chief of Radiation Oncology at PSH St. Joseph Cancer Center and an Associate Professor in the Division of Radiation Oncology/ Dept of Radiology at Penn State College of Medicine. He joined Penn State Health from the University of Maryland, having completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Dr. Sharma, an expert in Y-90 SIRT liver-directed therapy, is recognized nationally and internationally as an accomplished clinical trials principal investigator. He has implemented a wide array of the latest radiation treatment options to treat patients with common and rare forms of cancer, improving tumor targeting, and minimizing treatment side effects.
He has been recognized nationally and internationally as a clinical trial principal investigator and for his contributions to the American College of Radiology, American Society of Radiation Oncology, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and is a past member of the National Institutes of Health Rectal/Anal Task Force.
With expertise to offer the most advanced targeted treatments, Dr. Sharma brings vast experience to Penn State Health St. Joseph and becomes a member of an excellent multidisciplinary cancer care team that is offering hope and healing closer to home.
Y-90 is a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment of liver cancer and Radiation Oncologist Dr. Navesh Sharma of Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Cancer Center is one of the country’s leading physicians in the use of this procedure which is performed in conjunction with interventional radiologists.
