Penn State Health St. Joseph Laboratory staff readily communicates with your physician to share in the coordination of your medical care.

The Penn State Health focus on patient-centered care extends to every part of our organization, including lab services. Whether you’re having routine blood work or more in-depth testing, you deserve the same personal attention and quality care you’ve come to expect from Penn State Health St. Joseph.

Preparing for Your Test

No appointment is necessary for most laboratory tests.

Please bring the lab requisition (order/prescription) from your doctor, photo identification, and your insurance card when you visit us for testing services.

Understanding Your Insurance

Insurance can be a bit tricky when it comes to lab services. Although we are a full-service laboratory and can gladly process your lab tests here at our own hospital-based laboratory, some insurances are dedicated to national labs such as Quest Diagnostics or Lab Corp and may require that your lab work is sent there. For the convenience of our patients, we also serve as a 3rd Party Draw Site for both of these labs. Please take a moment to contact your insurance company prior to your visit if you are unsure and be certain to tell our staff if your lab tests must be sent to another lab.
