What is the Multidisciplinary Lung Clinic?
We at St. Joseph have found that the most effective and efficient treatment for patients with an abnormal lung finding is through a multidisciplinary approach. This means that specialized physicians from different medical areas of expertise work together as a team to determine the best treatment plan for you. Our goal is to work with you as soon as an abnormal finding is discovered in your lungs and fast-track you to a treatment plan.

How do I get in the Multidisciplinary Lung Clinic?
If you have an abnormal Chest X-Ray or CT Scan, including a Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening, your primary care physician can refer you by contacting Donna Engle, Lung Nurse Navigator at 610-378-2102 or DEngle@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.
What does the Lung Nurse Navigator do?
Donna Engle, Lung Nurse Navigator, will support you every step of the way. After your physician refers you into the program, Donna will compile your medical records, possibly set up additional tests, and schedule your Multidisciplinary Lung Clinic appointment at the soonest available time. She will assist with any barriers or difficulties you may have to receiving treatment such as financial or transportation issues.
How is my treatment plan fast-tracked?
The Multidisciplinary Lung Clinic meets every Tuesday, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and the team is capable of seeing multiple patients during this time. With Donna working efficiently behind the scenes in collecting the information needed for review during Clinic, the physician experts are able to review your diagnostics, providing a rapid diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan that is optimal for you and your family. There is no need to schedule multiple appointments to see multiple specialists at various locations, resulting in a delayed treatment plan.
