Dr. Haley Spagnola joins Penn State Health St. Joseph as a Pediatric Hospitalist
Reading, Pa., August 8th, 2016 — Dr. Haley C. Spagnola, DO, has joined Penn State Health St. Joseph as a Pediatric Hospitalist and will work with Chief of Pediatrics, Dr. Mary Ann Mancano, in the delivery of high-quality medical care for infants, children, and adolescents while hospitalized.
The St. Joseph pediatric hospitalist team specializes in the care of children, up to 17 years of age, with a variety of medical conditions from acute illnesses to complex chronic health conditions. The team also consults on pediatric emergency room patients.
Pediatric hospitalists focus solely on the care of hospitalized children and can modify treatment plans, follow up test results, and update family as new information becomes available. Hospitalists also can play a large role in coordinating discharge, and preparing children for the transition to home. Most importantly, the pediatric hospitalists communicate with the child’s primary care physician and specialists to optimally coordinate care.
Dr. Spagnola joins Penn State Health St. Joseph after completing her pediatric residency at the Penn State Children’s Hospital, Hershey, Pa. She earned her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a graduate of the University of Scranton, Scranton, PA.
