About UsDonate Now
In 1873, the Sisters of St. Francis and Monsignor George Bornemann founded St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading to provide much-needed healthcare services to people from all walks of life. From humble origins, the hospital grew through a shared commitment with friends in the community who believed in and financially supported our healing mission.
Today, Penn State Health St. Joseph is a vibrant, comprehensive provider of award-winning healthcare services to the people of Berks County and beyond. What hasn’t changed is the partnership with our friends in the community who share and support our passion for restoring and maintaining good health.
We bring together your passion in caring for others with the growing healthcare needs of our community. Your financial support helps us purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology, improve patient care and enhance a wide range of healthcare programs and services at our Bern Township Medical Center, St. Joseph Downtown Reading and our growing network of outpatient locations. We are blessed by a generous spirit of giving shared by our benefactors. Their compassion has a profound and far-reaching impact on the lives of our patients and their families. We invite you to join us as we build on our tradition of innovation and our legacy of care to address the healthcare needs of our community.
