Our award-winning emergency department provides full-service care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. St. Joseph Medical Center is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, accredited for Heart Attack Receiving Center by American Heart Association, and has received the highest award for stroke care and advanced heart failure – Gold Plus – from the American Heart Association. It’s also a recognized Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.

Diagnostic Services

Patients at The Heart Institute have access to a full range of diagnostic tests to accurately diagnose and evaluate heart and vascular conditions, helping to establish the best course of treatment. Tests include: EKG, holter monitor, cardiac stress testing, transthoracic echocardiogram, intravascular ultrasound, coronary calcium scoring, computed tomography angiography, and more.

Conditions & Treatment

We treat a multitude of conditions – with innovative and compassionate care – ranging from mild to severe heart and vascular problems. Procedures include: TAVR, WATCHMAN, angioplasty & stenting, PFO & ASD closures, pacemakers, ablations, CABG, and more. In early 2019, we’ll be unveiling a new hybrid catheterization lab, allowing for state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostics, and transforming into an operating room for urgent cases.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a key component helping people with heart disease reduce their risk, feel healthier and improve their cardiovascular functioning. This includes counseling, customized exercise program, nutritional services, emotional support, and medication support.

Disease Management & Support

As with other chronic diseases, heart disease requires lifelong management. Consider cardiologists your partner for routine check-ups and managing heart and vascular conditions. Conditions we manage include: angina, arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, abnormal heart rhythms, congenital heart disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, peripheral vascular disease, and more. Our comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program begins during your hospital stay and continues with medical supervision to enable quicker recovery and improvement of overall physical, mental and social functioning.
